FirstMed Health and Wellness Center is a nonprofit community healthcare clinic providing mental health and preventive and primary health care services to individuals and families in Southern Nevada. Founded in 2009, FirstMed was the vision of a group of physicians and professionals who wanted to serve the uninsured and under-insured population.

FirstMed is a 501(c)(3) Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) and a Certified Community Behavioral Health Clinic (CCBHC), the only nonprofit in the country to have both certifications. In 2021, FirstMed Health and Wellness Center was recognized among the top 20 percent of all FQHCs in the U.S.

It is the core belief of FirstMed that a vulnerable population can be empowered through increased access to comprehensive healthcare services that help people become and stay employed, have adequate resources for healthy lives, and live in a healthy home and environment.

Angela Quinn

Chief Executive Officer

Angela is committed to bringing high-quality, compassionately led health care to low-income and underserved communities. Since she became CEO in 2016, Angela has led FirstMed in expanding its services to Medicaid patients across Southern Nevada. Most notably, she developed FirstMed’s mental and behavioral health services following the 2017 Las Vegas shooting, when the need for mental health care increased substantially across the valley.

On the day of the shooting, Angela led the deployment of mental health professionals to Southern Nevada hospitals and hotels. Under Angela’s guidance, FirstMed provided mental health services to over 500 individuals and their families and organized temporary housing for 38 people who lost their homes as a result of the shooting.

Angela is a veteran community developer with demonstrated skill and expertise in both the community and economic development sectors. Her vast experience in health care includes the creation and expansion of program and services offered, in particular around issues of nonprofit “turnarounds”, health care, capacity building and sustainability. In total, Angela and her team has developed roughly $100 million in capital projects and another $100 million in programs.
